On 31 May 2026, 18 of our refugee friends joined ReRoot Project’s first art workshop at Alief Learning Centre in Cisarua.
The session began with each participant writing their name and decorating it with colors, patterns, and drawings that represented something about them. The finished pages included references to family, culture, football, favorite foods, flowers, and future ambitions.
As everyone worked, the artwork created natural conversations around the tables. Participants shared the meanings behind their drawings, exchanged materials, and learned more about one another. ReRoot facilitators worked alongside them, helping with materials and listening to the stories connected to each piece.
By the end of the session, the group had created 18 completely different name artworks.
